Grant Thornton (Vietnam) Limited is an independent member firm of Grant Thornton International. We are a leading professional services organisation in Vietnam providing Audit, Tax, Advisory and Outsourcing services. We have a professional team of 15 partners and more than 220 professional staffs in offices located in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
In order to meet the demand of our growing practices, we are looking for a qualified candidate to fill in a position of Tax Senior supporting our Outsourcing Services and Business Risk Manager supporting our Advisory Service of Ho Chi Minh City office. Detailed tasks of and required qualifications for this position are as follows:
1. TAX SENIOR – OUTSOURCING SERVICES (HCMC OFFICE)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Markets
- Builds an understanding of the engaged/prospective clients for selling service to clients clients and seeks to participate in business development opportunity.
- Develops an internal network within the department and other service lines.
Clients
- Builds good rapport with the client, with a clear understanding of client expectations and achieving high levels of client service.
- Provides general support to clients in the provision of tax advice.
- Regularly attends meetings; when appropriate, answering client queries. Takes minutes and proactively encourages the partner/manager to follow up on agreed actions.
Tax Delivery
- Provide general support to clients in the provision of tax advice.
- Prepare and/or Review tax returns including Personal Income Tax (PIT), Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Foreign Contractor Tax (FCT), Value Added Tax (VAT), etc in conjunction with agreed timescales;
- Can allocate job to Associates, coach and provide Associates with proper guidelines;
- Support managers on drafting the advice via email/ letter to response to clients’ queries on tax related issues and other matters;
- Can produce a well-supported piece of technical research.
- Assists with the production of tax reports and reviewing documents.
- Acts as one of contact points on specific projects/ clients under the Line managers’ appointment.
Client take-on / risk management
- Have an awareness of the firm’s risk management procedure and adheres to this.
- Mitigate risks by involvement of senior people and ensures appropriate advice is sought.
- Take steps to minimise professional risk, including the appropriate documentation of services provided.
Technical competence
- Demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to undertake relevant area of work.
- Seek solutions to technical issues and demonstrates a willingness to understand and recognise the breadth of possible technical issues.
People
- Is an approachable and respected member of the team who takes a proactive interest in the team’s performance and well -being.
- Input all assignment appraisals for junior staff, and also complete self-job appraisal forms on a timely basis.
Operations and results
- Monitor own schedule to meet internal deadlines set by Line managers.
- Be active in following up the pending issues of clients to ensure the client will not meet the statutory deadlines.
Qualifications/Skills
- Minimum of 2 years working experience as a Tax Consultant
- Fluency in English;
- VTCA/CPA/ACCA/ CPAA is preferable
- Strong knowledge in Accounting Law, Vietnamese Accounting Standards
- Good knowledge in Value Added Tax, Personal Income Tax and Corporate Income Tax
- Experience in using accounting software
- Experience in using software for tax declaration is an advantage
- Competence in using Microsoft offices

2. ADVISORY SERVICES – BUSINESS RISK MANAGER (HCMC OFFICE)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and supervise multiple engagement teams
- Provide training and assist in the overall professional development of staff
- Take ownership over the various industry and interdisciplinary publications
- Develop technical and financial proposals
- Develop engagement scope, strategy and methodology
- Prepare detailed engagement budget
- Collaborate with business owners in identifying issues, root causes of problems and co-develop practical and effective solutions
- Managing internal and external expectations
- Supervise preparation of reports and present findings and facilitate discussion of findings with management and/or stakeholders
Planning
- Plan the engagement and ensure that the contemplated work is in accordance with the terms of reference and engagement letter and covers the entire scope of work
- Develop engagement calendar and put in place the necessary monitoring tools are in place
- Initiate the preparation of work plan and detailed procedures and seek approval from partner prior to execution
Fieldwork
- Provide the required level of supervision
- Provide timely review of the work done and ensure that work is being executed properly
- Discuss issues as they arise within the engagement team and with client management
- Train and develop assistants within the team, ensuring on-the-job objectives/appraisals are agreed and conducted
- Ensure all review points in working papers are addressed/processed
Completion
- Supervise preparation of reports
- Ensure that all relevant findings are included in the report
- Arrange close out meetings and facilitate feedback discussion with management
- Ensure all review points and client comments are addressed into final deliverables
Client relationships
- Responsible for building and maintaining good working relationships with all clients and colleagues
- Develop audit committee papers
People/team management
- Take an active role in staff development, motivating and coaching trainees by giving regular feedback and competing timely appraisals
- Facilitate appraisals for team members
- Take an active role in providing training to staff
Marketing/practice development
- Assist the Partners in developing and executing marketing plans
- Attend external events to create network and potential job opportunities
- Develop contacts within Grant Thornton in other service lines
Qualifications/Skills
- Knowledge in Internal Controls
- Knowledge in Governance and Compliance
- ISPPIA Quality Assurance Review
- Fraud Investigation and Forensic Examination
- Information Systems Audit using CoBIT, ITIL and ISO 27000s
- Data Analysis using CAATs—ACL, IDEA and Advanced Excel
- Sarbanes-Oxley and ISAE3402/PSAE3402 Assurance
- A133 Compliance Audit for Non-Profit Organizations
